BIG WARM UP TODAY: After a sub-freezing start for most places, expect a big warm-up across Alabama today with temperatures reaching the 60s this afternoon. The air stays dry, and the sky will be partly to mostly sunny.

Dry weather continues over the weekend, but temperatures will be about 10-15 degrees lower after the passage of a clipper; the high tomorrow will be in the 45-55 degree range with a sunny sky. Sunday will be sunny and warmer with highs in the 50s and 60s.

NEXT WEEK: It will be the warmest week so far in 2026 with highs in the 60s and 70s through Thursday. Friday will be a little cooler with a high in the 55-65 degree range. Most of the week will be dry, although a few sprinkles or isolated showers are possible Wednesday through Friday.

The long range pattern/outlook suggests temperatures will remain above average across the Deep South for the next 10-15 days, but winter is far from over. We always have sharp cold snaps in late February and March. See the video briefing for maps, graphics, and more details.

ON THIS DATE IN 1989: Mammoth traffic jams in the Los Angeles area as freak snow struck California. The snow was reported from the beaches of Malibu to the desert around Palm Springs.

Look for the next video briefing here by 3:00 this afternoon… enjoy the day!
