ONE MORE COLD NIGHT: Temperatures will drop quickly once the sun goes down this evening, and a number of places will see another freeze early tomorrow. But, the weekend will warm up nicely, with mid 60s tomorrow followed by a high near 70 on Sunday. Sunshine will be out in full force tomorrow, but some clouds will begin to return Sunday.

HIGH SCHOOL PLAYOFFS: This will be one of the coldest game-nights of the Fall so far with temperatures falling quickly from the lower 50s around sunset to the mid-40s by kickoff. It should be near 40º by the end of most games in Central Alabama, but some colder valleys in eastern Alabama could already be as cold as 34-38º at that time.

COLLEGE GAMES: College football games look sunny and mild tomorrow. It will be a chilly morning with lows in the 30s and 40s, but expect lower and middle 60s around Alabama and our neighboring states tomorrow afternoon. Auburn heads over to Athens, Georgia to play the eastern Bulldogs for a 2:30 p.m. kickoff. Temperatures will be in the lower 60s falling into the mid-50s by the fourth quarter. UAB travels to Memphis for a 3:15 p.m. game, and it will feature mid-60s at kickoff. Alabama travels to Starkville, Mississippi to play the western Bulldogs of Mississippi State at 6:45 p.m.; this is the only one that will really get chilly; it will start out in the upper 50s and fall to the 40s by the fourth quarter.

NEXT WEEK: Finally getting better model agreement on next week… we will mention some risk of scattered showers on Monday, with showers and possibly a thunderstorm becoming more likely Tuesday with the approach of a surface front and short wave. Drier air invades North Alabama Wednesday through Friday… but not really colder air. See the Weather Xtreme video for more details.

STORM ALERT XTREME: Our annual storm spotter training is tomorrow at the BJCC, as part of the Alabama International Auto show. We begin at 9:00, and you will be done at 2:00.
