Clearly, the coldest morning so far this season. But, the dry air heats nicely today and we expect a high around 60 with blue sky and sunshine.
THE WEEKEND: Sunny weather continues tomorrow. We begin the day near freezing again, but warm into the mid 60s tomorrow afternoon. Southerly winds increase Sunday as we hit the low 70s. There will be a general increase in clouds Sunday, and we might even consider some risk of an afternoon shower, but for now the chance looks very small.
NEXT WEEK: Model madness rules at this point. We will mention the chance of a few scattered showers Monday, but the better coverage of showers and possibly a thunderstorm will come later. The ECMWF suggests Tuesday is the big rain day, while the GFS says Wednesday. Too much uncertainty for now; we will just mention a chance of showers both days and fine tune the forecast over the weekend as we get better clarity. One way or another it doesn’t look like severe weather will be a problem with limited dynamics and instability. See the Weather Xtreme video for details on long range ideas.
SEAN: Our late season tropical storm will become sub-tropical later today as it moves into the North Atlantic harmlessly.
STORM ALERT XTREME: Our annual storm spotter training is coming up tomorrow at the BJCC, as part of the Alabama International Auto show. We begin at 9:00, and you will be done at 2:00. And, as a “thank you”, you will get free admission into the car show. There is no cost, and no need to register, just show up. Brian Peters will be the trainer, and we ask all existing and potential Skywatchers to attend. See you there!
WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.
