Scroll down for Dr. Tim’s excellent updated forecast discussion.

Looking at the radar: Patches of light snow cover a good bit of Central Alabama generally from the I-65 corridor westward to the Mississippi border. East of that, lighter snow and snow flurries are being reported, especially over Marshall, St. Clair and Talladega counties.

To the west, an area of moderate to briefly heavy precipitation is over Pickens and northern Greene Counties. This precipitation will overspread Tuscaloosa County in the next hour. Temperatures are in the 35-36F range in the Tuscaloosa area, with dewpoints still in the teens, so there will be some evaporational cooling as the precipitation moves in. It should be mostly snow with some sleet possibly mixed in. Ronald Hughes in Coker reports large flakes coming down fairly hard in Coker, just west of Tuscaloosa.
