Rain is vital to our livlihood. There are many places in the world where the availability of clean water is almost non-existent and that includes drinking water. So, as the population of the world still grows (explodes in some areas), the problem grows more severe.

We, here in Alabama, are fortunate. We live in a relatively wet climate thanks to our dear friend, the Gulf of Mexico, but we all know that occasionally we have dry spells and even droughts. People have been begging for rain lately and we now have experienced two big rain events in the last few days including the last 24 hours.

I did not mean to preach a sermon. All of that just bubbled out when I opened my mouth. So, let me get down to business and give you some rain amounts for the last 24 hours. Some of these reports may be incomplete and there will probably be some that we missed.

A FEW EXTRA NOTES JUST TO ADD VARIETY
96 was the hottest in the country yesterday at Laredo and McAllen, Texas.

It is time for me to take a 53-minute super power nap since I have only had 90 minutes sleep in the last 24 hours. There is a good side to that. My IQ seemingly goes up several points when I get little or no sleep.
