Not all today, mind you.
This report is from one of our regular blog and E-Forecast readers. I asked her permission to post this:
Hope you got a little of this wet stuff up your way but it didn’t look like you got very much. We had almost 2 FEET ( 23.8 inches ) of rain here in Gulf Breeze last week in just a 36 hour period!
Saturday was nice and no rain but it started up again Sunday afternoon and has rained all night and all day today too. The rain guage for Gulf Breeze High School weather station is showing almost 30 INCHES for the month of October and we had had only about 2 1/2 inches reported before last Wednesday so all the rest has come in just a few days now.
EVERYTHING is FLOODED here. The yard and driveway is like a lake. It had dried up a little Saturday but when it started to rain again yesterday it puddled up again right away. The ground is SO saturated the it can’t soak in anymore, just has to run off as it can. If you remember, we had that 19 inches of rain in a day or so back in April of ’05 and that was a mess but this is so much worse. The news showed a guy a couple of blocks from us that has his back yard flooded really bad. His inground pool is a foot and a half UNDER water!!! I have never seen anything like this. It is so flat around here that the water has no place to run to and now it is so saturated that it can’t go anywhere. Other than the damn florida room leaking we haven’t had any other problems. I guess we are just situated on a little bit higher ground than most around us here. There has been a lot of bad flooding all around us in the neighborhood and surrounding areas here. Streets all over from here in the area up to Gulf Breeze and along Hwy 98 at times just unpassable and some have gotten washed out from underneath and caved in. It’s just a real mess….
