The thunderstorm that was over South Walker County moved east into Jefferson County and separated into two storms. Not severe and not much lightning.

Still moving steadily eastward. A few more may develop before the night is over.

Almost all of Alabama is under a “Moderate Risk” of severe weather today (Saturday) and Saturday night. The actual valid time for this outlook is from 6 am, CST Saturday through 6 am Sunday.

Here in Central Alabama, our greatest risk may be Saturday night into early Sunday morning. The greatest risk of severe by mid to late afternoon Saturday should be as far east as SW Tennessee and Mississippi. During the evening and night, severe storms may develop into lines and clusters with “bow echoes” This can cause widespread wind damage.

We want to make it clear that there is also danger earlier than Saturday night into early Sunday. This is clearly a situation that everyone should keep in touch. This has the potential of a widespread outbreak of severe weather including the possibility of some long-track very damaging tornadoes.
