* The eye of Hurricane Gustav can now be easily seen on New Orleans Doppler Radar. It is located almost due south of New Orleans (about 125 miles away) and moving NW. It seems to be moving generally toward Grand Island.

* Officials say that almost 90% of the Louisiana coastal area was evacuated.

* New orleans lakefront reporting gusts to 54 mph at 4 am.

* Down on the Alabama/NW Florida Coast, a Tornado Warning was issued during the last hour. The storm containing the possible tornado was passing near the Pensacola Navy Station and moving NW at a very rapid 54 mph.

* Officials in New Orleans appear to be somewhat optimistic that the storm surge will be less than expected. Too early to say for sure.

* Boothville 4 am report missing. That is a key station since it is very near the mouth of the Mississippi River.
