Several isolated showers and storms developed over Jefferson County this afternoon. They were slow-movers and probably the heat-island effect aided their development.
Not a great deal of thunder but some brief heavy downpours. Rained for a time downtown at UAB (maybe an hour) and a heavy shower for about 25 minutes at Elmwood Cemetery. They have diminished. Also a brief downpour in Homewood.
Another small one has developed over West Winston County, west of Double Springs
