Warm temps over much of Alabama, with upper 70s as far north as Tuscaloosa this afternoon. Some severe storms have developed over southern Mississippi, out ahead of the main line of storms, which is still ahead of the main line. Tornado warnings are in effect for some of these storms.

The low-level jet will really get going over Alabama this evening, brunging dewpoints near 60 as far northeast as BHM by around 10 pm. We dont’ expect the main line until after midnight, but we’ll really be watching the storms over MS in the next 3 hours.

Another update once the BHM balloon data is available around 7 pm. The main threat still looks like widespread damaging winds with the line, but late models are indicating some instability along with the strong shear west of I-65 by 1 am.
