SPOT REPORTS AT 6 PM
11 in Kansas City
16 St. Louis, snow flurries, wind chill +2
Zero Omaha, wind chill -17
-3 Des Moines, gusts to 25, wind chill -22
7 Chicago, light snow, wind chill -14
One of the coldest temperatures in the USA this morning, possibly the very lowest was 48 below at Babbitt, Minesota
The wind chill is going to be a very important factor in this cold air outbreak. Care should be taken to dress in layers and plenty of clothes.
Studies have shown that a wind chill of -70 can freeze exposed human skin in about 30 seconds. Of course we will not have numbers anywhere near that low but it does show the danger.
