The large cluster of thunderstorms covering much of Fayette, Walker, Tuscaloosa, Western Bibb and much of Jefferson County continues to spread toward the SE rather slowly.

At 7:00 p.m., the storms had weakened somewhat but still strong enough to dump very heavy rain, strong gusty winds and some dangerous lightning. The storms have spread across all of Tuscaloosa County and all but the east and south parts of Jefferson County. They will continue to move slowly toward the ESE. Out ahead of the main complex, a stronger storm was developing over Western St. Clair County north of I-20 and one over Central Talladega County near the city of Talladega.

Here are some reports as of 7:00 p.m.:

* 1.66 inches of rain at the Jasper Skycam

* 0.49 at the Tuscaloosa Skycam raining at the rate of 1.11 inches per hour. A wind gust to 35 mph and the heavy rain has cooled the temperature all the way down to 67.

* Tuscaloosa Airport received 0.79 just in the last hour. Still getting heavy rain with visibility 1/2 mile

* Unconfirmed report of nickel-size hail at Coker in Tuscaloosa County.

* 1.50 inches of rain so far at Coker located west of Tuscaloosa.
