Finally, I believe that our naughty thunderstorms are getting a little bit tired and ready to wind down. But there is still plenty of lightning and locally heavy rain. At 9:20 p.m., a crooked line of thunderstorms extended almost all the way across North/Central Alabama. (On radar, the line of thunderstorms looks like a drunk snake.) Those storms still feature house-shaking thunder, brilliant lightning and very heavy rain. Let’s dissect the line of storms with this information:
…..From Walker County westward into Fayette and Marion Counties, the storms have greatly diminished and the rain has lessened.
…..On I-65 North from Birmingham, you run into some very heavy rain across the north edge of Jefferson County, extreme SW Blount County and South Cullman County. The heaviest rain seems to be from near Warrior and Kimberly in Jefferson County, northward to Rickwood Caverns and Blount Springs in that little narrow part of SW Blount County and also extreme south Cullman County. The storms are gradually pushing down more into North Jefferson County toward Gardendale. But we also detect a weakening in the intensity.
…..Way over in East Alabama, that same crooked line of storms is dumping very heavy rain over North Calhoun County, especially in places like Ohatchee, Alexandria, Weaver and Jacksonville. It was raining heavily also along the Cherokee/Cleburne County line.
