**No afternoon Weather Xtreme video today; back to the “two a day” schedule tomorrow**

RADAR CHECK: Showers are very isolated across Alabama this afternoon; for most the sky is partly to mostly sunny, and temperatures are generally in the mid 90s.

Temperatures

We will keep an eye on storms over Tennessee near I-40; those could lay down some type of small scale boundary that could fire up new storms over North Alabama this evening. Accordingly, we will maintain the chance of scattered showers through tonight, but most fireworks shows at 9:00 should be dry.

TOMORROW: This should be the day with the highest coverage of showers and thunderstorms, although it still won’t rain everywhere. Colder air aloft will make for a more unstable atmosphere, and we expect scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms. While most of them will come during the afternoon and evening hours, we can’t rule out a morning shower as well. The high will be close to 90, and some spots could stay in the 80s all day due to the clouds and showers.

REST OF THE WEEK: Scattered showers and storms remain possible Wednesday, but they should be fewer in number, and by Thursday and Friday afternoon storms will be very isolated as heights rise and the air becomes more stable. Highs will be generally in the mid 90s.

THE ALABAMA WEEKEND: Fairly routine summer weather is the story; partly sunny, hot days, and the risk of “SMAEST”… “scattered mostly afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms. Highs should be in the low to mid 90s, and that overall pattern continues into next week.

TROPICS: All remains quiet in the Atlantic basin, and tropical storm formation is not expected this week.

AT THE BEACH: Expect mostly sunny days, fair nights, and only isolated storms through the weekend from Gulf Shores over to Panama City Beach. Highs on the immediate coast will be in the 87-90 degree range, with 90s inland. Sea water temperatures are in the mid to upper 80s. See a very detailed Gulf Coast forecast here.
