Showers and thunderstorms were increasing over several parts of Alabama this afternoon. Showers have been persistent over NW Alabama for several hours. Bear Creek, in NE Marion County, reports 1/2 inch of rain so far. One small shower produced heavy rain for a short time in Warrior in North Jefferson County.
At 1:50, the heavier showers were over Fayette and Marion Counties in West and NW Alabama with lighter showers eastward across the Cullman area and all the way into the NE corner of the state.
A line of showers and storms have developed again this afternoon from near Anniston and Heflin southwestward to the Montgomery area. Those showers seem to be redeveloping in the same area with not much movement. A number of communities yesterday afternoon got some very heavy rain because of that. The heaviest of those showers in the line were near Montgomery and Hayneville.
Meanwhile, still other showers and storms were developing just east of Mobile and over into Baldwin County.
