Drove to Lafayette, Louisiana today, then drove south as far as Perry, LA, 14 miles NW of Vermillion Bay and 10 miles north of Intracoastal City. Tropical storm-like conditions, maximum wind gust 53 mph. Sheriff told us water was over the roads in Intracoastal City, and the water was very high in the river we had crossed to get there, so we turned north. We did get into the Hurricane Warning area, then coming back north into Lafayette drove into a Tornado Warning…both in separate parishes within one hour! Now driving north on I-49 to Alexandria…I-10 bridge over the bayou to Baton Rouge looked like bad weather. Should go through Natchez and Vicksburg to reach I-20.
Main UAH crew is NE of Galveston Bay…at 26 feet elevation, with radar.
