Our first real hint of autumn in the air this morning, Reminds me of one of my top five favorite songs, “Cool, Cool Water” by that great singing group, “Sons of the Pioneers.”
They were first rate at harmonizing–right up there with the Statler Brothers and the country music group, Alabama.

When we were taping Weather Brains last night, I was amazed, surprised, astounded, disbelief that James Spann, the great radio DJ, had never heard of the Sons of the Pioneers. Even during those early years when he was a DJ for WTBC, WXAL, WSGN and another station in Montgomery. Last night, however, he did play a short burst of my very favorite “Tumbling Tumbleweeds” by the Sons of the Pioneers.

Enough of that. Let’s look at some morning low temperatures. We will add to this list later from such places as Great Smoky Mountain National Park and other parts of the USA.
