A band of rain exists all the way across Alabama at mid morning. The band of rain is 50-70 miles wide with Jefferson County on the north edge. Down south it extends to Livingston, Demopolis and Prattville.

The rain is moderate at times in places like Tuscaloosa and Shelby County.

Brian Peters reports 0.50 at Helena, most of it between about 6 am to 8:30 am.

The rain is generally along and on either side of a cold front. That front is somewhere between Birmingham and Montgomery. I can walk my dog faster than it is moving. This north to south temperature profile tells the story:

56 in Muscle Shoals
61 Birmingham Airport
67 Montgomery
70 Mobile

Since it has been very dry much of the time lately, will post a longer (but not real long) list of rain reports later this morning.
