Not much change in the position of the wide rain band across Alabama. At 10:30 the west to east band was all the way across the state. These counties were on the north side of the band:

Pickens
Tuscaloosa
Jefferson
Etowah
Cherokee

…and these counties at the south edge:

Choctaw
Autauga
Coosa
Chambers

Some of the heaviest rain (mostly moderate instead of heavy) was across the East Alabama counties of Talladega, Clay and Coosa.

A cold (cool) front is involved in all of this but it is pushing south almost like it is running short on $3 per gallon fuel. The front is south of Birmingham but still north of Childersburg. I know I am being silly (I am sincerely working on that problem) but the front may have stopped at Peach Park in Clanton for some ice cream. Cold fronts love strawberry ice cream.

These rain amounts are not the final answer because it is still raining over much of the area and some of these reports were from earlier this morning:

0.42 Coker
0.14 Decatur
0.08 Huntsville (no longer raining across the north 1/4 of Alabama)
0.09 Meridianville
0.01 Cullman Airport
0.67 Cottondale as of 8 am
0.87 Fayette
0.44 Jemison
0.29 Marion
0.42 Northport
0.40 South Pinson, near Candy Mountain
0.40 Clay/Pinson (Womack Road)
0.07 Holly Pond Elementary School, thanks to Bob Kusz. (That is where Jason Simpson learned to add 2+2 after a number of tries)
0.50 Helena (from Brian Peters as of 8:30 am)
