Some scattered light rain in a narrow band from Chilton County down to south of Livingston and into SW Alabama. That is not the main rain event. More extensive showers were over the western half of Mississippi, including a few moderate to heavy ones. Everything was moving toward the NNE.

If you are out hiking this morning, you need to wear at least a short-sleeve shirt because it is briskly cool.

The wedge is truly at work this morning. Just got back from a half-mile walk with my little dog and I had to comb my hair 10 times because of the wind. It was near perfect short-sleeve weather, at least for me. Wind along the walking track was gusting to at leat 25 mph.

We will have some information about the Great Plains Blizzard in a little while. It was a semi-fizzle, not nearly as severe as originally anticipated, but still not to be ignored. For example, Goodland, Kansas originally had a Blizzard Warning that was in effect all day today. That has been downgraded to a Winter Weather Advisory–much less serious. They may still get gusts to about 45 mph with 2 or 3 additional inches of snow. No more mention of “whiteout conditions.”
