The weather just doesn’t get much better than what we saw yesterday and what we will see today with cool, brisk mornings and sunny, warm afternoons. Our lows have been running a tad below seasonal values but the highs have been pretty close for the last couple of days.
Lots of sun today should see our afternoon temperatures climb into the lower and middle 70s. Interesting to note an upper low was located over the Alabama and Northwest Florida coast this morning with only one small patch of clouds over South Alabama.
That upper low will move steadily eastward and northeastward over the next several days producing some rain for the Atlantic Coast states. But as a new upper trough comes in from the west, we’ll be between systems under an upper ridge for the first of the week keeping our weather nearly perfect with lots of sun. And lows will moderate perhaps only dropping into the 50s by Thursday. Not much change in afternoon highs which should stay in the 70s for much of the upcoming week.
A cold front approaches the area on Thursday. It looked like the front would come through on Thursday on yesterday’s run, but now it appears to be a tad slower. Now a line of showers and perhaps a thunderstorm should roll through here late Thursday or early Friday morning. SPC has outlooked areas for severe weather just to our west on day 4 and 5, but it looks like parameters for severe weather will probably be a bit thin for us. But we’ll need to keep a watchful eye on it all because the details area always in the mesoscale.
The front is forecast to blast through by midday Friday paving the way for us to have another beautiful weekend. No really cold air with this system, just a minor cool down.
In the long range, the GFS is suggesting another long dry spell for us as it is now forecasting an upper low to cut off over the Southwest US and take a long time to reach us with no significant weather until the 17th or so. But that is a long way out.
