Virtually no sunshine across Alabama early on this Thursday afternoon. A few breaks in the clouds near the Florida border.
For much of the state, we have a blanket of low-hanging clouds with ceilings as low as 200 and 300 feet in some areas. Translation: Ridge tops in the clouds as you drive over them with very low visibility. In effect, you run into a dense fog blanket.
The Mt. Cheaha Skycam shows visibility practically zero at 12:40 pm
There is also some scattered light drizzle but no distinct rain.
Looks like our main rain event will be Friday and Friday night.
The NAM (one of our models) prints out 0.91 for Birmingham by Saturday morning (mostly Friday and Friday night) The HPC people point toward about 0.55
