* 5:38 pm…heavy rain north of Guin in NW Alabama with a thunderstorm in progress.
* SW Lamar County (Millport area) 0.40 rain in about 20 minutes but wind only about 11 mph.
* Wind gusts at the regular weather stations around Alabama were mostly between 25-30 mph. Higher gusts of course on the ridges. A few Skycam reports:

* 37 mph atop Mt. Cheaha

Strong storms in NW Alabama extended from Lamar County northward across Marion County and into Franklin, Colbert and Lauderdale County. Moving NE. Probably the strongest storm just before 6 o’clock were lined up from Central Mississippi down into Louisiana.
TORNADO REPORT
NWS/Jackson reports significant damage along highway east of Yazoo City, Miss., at 5 pm. Homes damaged, outbuildings destroyed. numerous trees across the road, business establishments damaged with windows blown out. Road blocked.
