You will immediately notice that Alabama weather has undergone a design change while you slept overnight. That strong cold front has pushed into South Alabama south of the Selma-Montgomery area.

At 5 am, it was in the mild upper 60s over the Extreme South but in the mid 30s over the Tennessee Valley with strong north winds and wind chill in the 20s. It was 43 in Birmingham at 5 am with north winds gusting to 28. It was a balmy 71 Saturday Afternoon.

A Lake Wind Advisory is in effect all day with cold north winds gusting over 30 mph at time. Could be a few gusts as high as 40 mph.

Tonight brings a hard freeze to much of the state. As far south as Birmingham the ole thermometer will plunge to as low as 20 with some teens in the traditionally colder valleys.

That means some areas will feel a 50-degree plunge in temperature from yesterday afternoon until tomorrow morning.

Not good
Not fun
But not THAT unusual for the Deep South in Winter!
You can handle it!
Enjoy the day…

…Merry Christmas
