A long line of storms extends all the way from NE Alabama down into the west/central part of the state.
More specifically, the line extends from between Huntsville and Scottsboro, across SE Morgan County and NW Cullman County, to West Walker County to east of Fayette and to near Carrollton in Pickens County.
Overall, these storms have weakened a bit, but they are still quite strong over Pickens County. All along there has been very little lightning in these storms.
Further south an individual cluster of storms was over the south half of Hale County approaching Greensboro. Everything is moving almost due east and this line of activity will be into metropolitan Birmingham by around 6:00 or soon thereafter.
Even further south, some of the stronger storms were over SE Washington County over to near Evergreen. Earlier a Tornado Warning was posted for one of those storms.
The Storm Prediction Center advises that there will be a minimal tornado threat for SW Alabama for about another hour, but the threat should diminish rather quickly. They do not anticipate a severe thunderstorm or tornado watch. Our 33/40 Skywatcher at Coker in West Tuscaloosa County now hears thunder to the NW. The storms are moving into extreme NW Tuscaloosa County.
These showers and storms are along a cold front moving quickly into NW and West Alabama. Check this linear temperature profile from 5 o’clock observations going toward the NW.

SNOW REQUESTS
We have had a large number of queries about if we will get snow with the upcoming arctic outbreak and how much. It is far too early to ascertain that. I think we can start painting a clearer picture of expectations by Monday morning. We certainly are not trying to avoid the questions. The honest answer is that we do not know for sure yet.
