Weatherwise that is.

Severe Thunderstorm Watch that went until 2 am for parts of NW Mississippi, West Tennessee and Arkansas was not extended.

Weather has settled down enough that no watches or warnings in effect at 2 am. Last Severe Thunderstorm Watch was issued by NWS/Louisville shortly before 1 am, CST.

Showers and some thunderstorms continue moving quickly eastward across mainly North Alabama. Still a lot of moderate (and some heavy) rain across the Tennessee Valley but not as heavy as earlier.

Moderate to briefly heavy rain was moving east out of Tuscaloosa County into part of Jefferson County. This was a strong thunderstorm ealier when it passed through West Alabama’s Pickens County.

Now the main concern shifts to later today because all of Alabama is under a risk of severe weather. The NWS/Storm prediction Center upgraded a good part of Central and South Central Alabama to a moderate risk. They will have a new outlook later this morning and it will be interesting to see if there are any changes.

The moderate risk reaches north very close to the Tuscaloosa-Birmingham-Anniston area. The most action with this will probably be mid-day through the afternoon but that is not sealed in cement yet.

Stay tuned.

Sleepy, thirsty, tired and suffering from malnutrition, so I may steal an hour or two of sleep but I will be here if the weather misbehaves again. It is going to be a very long day.
