Blanket of clouds covers much of the state, especially the north and central counties.

This has held all the thermometers in check. Noon temperatures were only 50 in the Birmingham area. Even chillier in the Tennessee Valley and Extreme North; At 12 noon it was:

43 in Haleyville
45 Muscle Shoals, Decatur and Huntsville

Down south, mostly 50s and 60s.

A persistent light rain has been hanging out over the north most of the day. From the Tennessee Valley to about the Birmingham area. Moving east.

Nearly 1/10th of an inch of rain at Haleyville, lighter elsewhere.

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH ALABAMA
(But I am sure you wanted to know)
Latest report from tiny St. Paul Island, Alaska tells of 31 degrees with snow andblowing snow as well as freezing spray. Wind is from the west at 64, with gusts to 80 mph. The NWS was right on target last night when they issued a Hurricane Force Wind Warning for today. The small island is well off the SW Alaska Mainland and north of the westernmost Aleutians. A strange thing happened once back in the 80s (not sure of the year) A thunderstorm moved across the island in the middle of the night. It was their first thunderstorm in over 30 years. Even the adults on the island were scared to death. Some had never seen lightning or heard thunder!
