Rain was spreading back northward tonight and getting into North Alabama where there had been several hours break from the rain.

At 9:30 tonight, it was raining over almost all of the state except parts of the Tennessee Valley and the SE corner. Light rain is widespread, but there are numerous pockets of moderate to heavy rain. The rain was increasing in the Tuscaloosa/Birmingham area where it was moderate to heavy. A rather large area of heavy rain has developed over Central Mississippi near and north of Jackson. It was spreading NE and should bring locally heavy rain to places like Pickens, Lamar, Fayette and Marion Counties later tonight.

This has been a general soaking rain. It was very mild over South Alabama all day, but cool 50s over the north due to a wedge effect. Temperautres in the low and mid 40s over North Georgia tonight were spreading westward and approaching East Alabama. The low-pressure area causing most of this rain was an elongated one tonight stretching from West Tennessee down across NW Alabama down to Biloxi and New Orleans and into the NW Gulf of Mexico.
