1. POSITION OF COLD FRONT: At 3 am, the front was approaching the Mississippi River. The low pressure area was sprawled out over Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi. Cold front is projected to approach West Alabama mid to late morning. It will probably trigger some more strong to severe thunderstorms.
2. Only Tornado Warning in Alabama in progress at 3 am was for part of the Mobile area.
3. RAIN: For those of you that do not have access to radar, it was pouring rain at 3 am over parts of West and NW Alabama, especially Pickens, South Lamar, Fayette and East Marion County. Not a great deal of lightning. Don’t be surprised if a Flash Flood Warning could result.
4. LIGHTNING: Lots of lightning in a band from East Central to SW Mississippi. A separate cluster of active lightning NW Mississippi close to the cold front.
5. WILL WE BE UPGRADED? Someone asked if we would be upgraded to Moderate Risk. Don’t know the answer to that but I tend to doubt it. Things could change
6. We will probably be under the gun at least through Saturday morning and possibly later over on the east side of the state.
