Showers and thunderstorms continue across Alabama late on this Tuesday morning. Two lines of thunderstorms moved across the state earlier. Now the thunderstorms are not so much in lines as they are in clusters. The storms that awakened big bunches of people early this morning have moved over into NW Georgia down through East/Central and South Alabama.

Redevelopment is taking place over West/Central Alabama, especially from Tuscaloosa and Centreville southwestward across Hale, Perry, Bibb, Greene and Choctaw Counties. Lots of lightning down that way.

Quite a few showers in the Tennessee Valley also with the heavier ones between Huntsville and Guntersville. Every single shower and thunderstorm in the state was moving NE.

LOOKING WEST: A larger area of stronger thunderstorms was developing over East Arkansas and North and Central Louisiana. These, too, were moving toward the east and NE with plenty of lightning. The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the south half of Mississippi and all of Louisiana except the NW. This watch extends over adjacent to the West Alabama border. The Storm Prediction Center has also expanded their Slight Risk of severe thunderstorms today and this evening to cover most of Louisiana, about the south half of both Mississippi and Alabama, extreme South Georgia and the entire north half of the Florida peninsula. It is possible that a watch will be extended eastward into Alabama later today, probably somewhere down south.

We will be watching and waiting.
