Early this afternoon, showers and thunderstorms were occurring in almost every part of Alabama. Of course, not everyone was getting rain and there were some good breaks. Moderate to heavy showers persist between Birmingham and Tuscaloosa. Also, some heavier showers over in East/Central Alabama. However, the more numerous showers and thunderstorms and the most healthy ones were over SW Alabama. This was especially true from just north of Mobile northward and eastward into extreme NW Florida and SW Alabama.
Because of some of those biggies, the National Weather Service in Mobile continues a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Central Clarke County in SW Alabama until 1:15 p.m.
They are doing that because of a line of severe thunderstorms that may be producing hail the size of nickels and damaging winds over 60. Those thunderstorms were lined up from the city of Jackson to Choctaw Bluff. Also extending from 16 miles south of Grove Hill to 22 miles south of Grove Hill moving east at 40.
Now we turn our blurry eyes westward to keep an eye on a line of active thunderstorms in Central and West Mississippi. Lots of lightning in those. The whole zone of storms from the Mississippi/Tennessee border down to SW Mississippi were moving ENE steadily.
