The National Weather Service in Birmingham has added some additional counties to the Tornado Watch that goes until 7 o’clock this evening. Those counties are:
Bibb
Calhoun
Cherokee
Cleburne
Etowah
Greene
Hale
Jefferson
Pickens
Shelby
St. Clair
Sumter
Talladega
This means that all of the greater Birmingham area is now included in the watch and it covers roughly the north half of Alabama at this time.
Tornado Warnings are being issued rapidly in NW Alabama and Middle Tennessee. At one point during the last hour, the NWS in Nashville and Huntsville issued 14 Tornado Warnings in a space of only 33 minutes.
