Those strong thunderstorms now limited to SE Alabama but some of them are still severe. The Tornado Watch continues for part of that area until 10 am. These additional notes:

* There general area around Mobile has had more than their share of Flash Flood Warning the past several weeks. But here we go again. NWS/Mobile has posted a Flash Flood Warning for parts of eight SW Alabama and NW Florida counties until 10:15 am. This includes the Mobile area and other towns like Bay Minette, Brewton and others. Radar estimates show 8.50 inches of rain since yesterday evening over part of the area.

* Randolph County EMA reports trees down across several roads in the north part of the county. Highway Dept. and Fire Dept. working to clear roads.

* Ohatchee, Calhoun County, high winds uprooted a tree across an occupied vehicle on Greensport Road. State of driver unknown at the time of the report.

* Cherokee County, NE Alabama, trees and power lines down all across the county.

* Walker County 911 handling numerous calls about trees on vehicles.

* NWS/Birmingham cancelled the High Wind Warning for Calhoun, Blount, Chilton, Shelby, Jefferson, Etowah, St. Clair, Talladega counties.

* Scattered power outages across South Randolph County.

WHAT IS IN STORE?
* Storm Prediction Center has all of Alabama under a slight risk today and tonight. An approaching cold front will trigger another line of strong to severe thunderstorms mid to late afternoon today that will move eastward across the entire area. Hail and high wind a good possibility but a tornado threat cannot be ignored.

A FEW OVERNIGHT RAIN AMOUNTS
1.38 at Noccalula Falls
0.97 Scrougeout
0.82 NorthFork
1.37 Concord/Hueytown

* It would be interesting to know how many trees were uprooted across Alabama overnight. I feel sure that itis in the thousands. Many downed weak trees deep in the woods may not be discovered for weeks.

* If we keep getting all these big wind events, Alabama will start looking like West Texas! (big exaggeration!)
