A long line of showers developed this evening along and ahead of a cold front. The line of showers (and some thunderstorms) extended from Hattiesburg and Meridian in Mississippi NE across West Cantral and NW Alabama. Strongest storms were in two areas:
* Near and south of Meridian
* NW Alabama over the west part of the Tennessee Valley
Several Severe Thunderstorm Warnings this evening across the Tennessee Valley.
In West Alabama, NWS, Birmingham has issued a Special Weather Statement (Significant Weather Alert) for Lamar and Marion County until 7:45.
That was upgraded to a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Marion County at 7:24 that goes until 8 pm. A warning also for Winston County until 8.
SPS has no immediate plans to issue a watch.
