Decent instability this afternoon has allowed storms over South Central Alabama to grow in intensity and size this afternoon.
The storm near Wetumpka is capable of producing wind damage and 3/4 inch hail. It will track northward along the Coosa River, staying west of Eclectic in Elmore County.
Other storms are in the Montgomery/Prattville area, but they are not severe.
Another storm is passing west of Alex City, but lightning and heavy rain are all we are dealing with there.
Elsewhere across the state, storms over northern Choctaw County north of Butler are pushing northward into southern Sumter County. They are not strong.
In South Alabama, storms in the Enterprise/Elba area are active, but not severe.
Over Northwest Alabama, a line of storms has formed from west of Nashville down to near Iuka, Mississippi. This activity is just barely into the northwestern corner of Alabama, in western Lauderdale County.
A severe thunderstorm warning was just issued for Dickson and Hickman Counties in Tennessee on the northern end of that line.
The activity may persist through the evening and perhaps even into the overnight hours.
