The threat of severe weather has ended in lmost all areas very late tonight and in the first hour of Tuesday except extreme East and SE Alabama..

At 12:45 am, there was still an intense to severe line of storms extending from near Montgomery NE to NW of Opelika. Moving SE.

Still capable of producing some damage and still overdosed on lightning. At 11:48 tonight, trees were being uprooted around Dadeville and other areas.

I will stay up a while longer to make sure the storms are declining but new warnings are now bring issued.

* Numerous reports of damaging winds, hail and severe lightning all the way from the Tennessee Valley down into SE and East Alabama. Earlier tonight, at 9:15 pm, multiple trees and power lines down around Altoona, in Etowah County, including some trees on homes and cars and there were some injuries.

* Lightning struck the home of Bill Murray’s next door neighbor in South Trussville tonight. Firemen at a nearby Trussville station saw it happen and described it as a big ball of lightning. The same lightning strike destroyed two TVs in Bill’s home.

* As I have mentioned before, I believe tonight rated in the top five severe lightning events that I have experienced and I have been in weather since 1957.

MORE TO COME
As we look back to the NW late tonight, we see another large cluster of storms in the shape of a bow moving east across Missouri. We will have to watch this very closely tomorrow. Woe is we (or is woe is us?)
