All day Sunday, there was a broad west to east zone of showers and thunderstorms, sometimes not well defined, that extended from North Texas across South Arkansas, North Louisiana, North Mississippi into North and Central Alabama. Thunderstorms were, at time, training moving along the same general area.
Today, same story except shifting south.
This morning the broad east to west zone of showers and thunderstorms extended from East Texas across Central Louisiana and South Mississippi into South Alabama and NW Florid.
In Alabama, almost all of the showers and thunderstorms were from Pickens, Tuscaloosa and Bibb Counties southward. This included some heavy showers ssouth and SE of Montgomery. Lot of heavy showers also over the east part of the Florida Panhandle.
Down in SE Alabama, where Dothan had a high of 102 Sunday afternoon, it will not be nearly that hot today because of heavy amounts of rain. The have received well over 1 inch in the last 24 hours including 1 inch since midnight.
Along with the showers and thunderstorms, the risk of severe weather has also shifted well to the south. On Sunday, almost all of Alabama was under a Slight Risk as defined by the Storm Prediction Center. Today that Slight Risk extends from SE Louisiana across the extreme south portions of both Mississippi and Alabama into the Florida Panhandle.
Later this morning I will post a comprehensive list of Alabama rain amounts in the last 24 hours, mainly because part of the state were getting rather dry until Sunday. Even on Sunday a lot of communities did not get enough to jump up and down about.
