A slow-moving thunderstorm was dumping heavy rain in Tallapoosa County, especially over the western part.
The NWS/Birmingham issued an Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for West-Central Tallapoosa County until 3 o’clock this afternoon.
Doppler radar indicated that already 2 inches of rain had fallen in the area and 1 to 2 inches additional rain could occur in the next hour, because the storm is such a slow mover.
Other thunderstorms were increasing in number over East Alabama, especially in Chambers, Lee and Russell County.
Over the rest of the state, they were rather scarce. Several storms have developed over extreme NW Alabama in Franklin County.
The storms today are moving very slowly ESE or SE. Yesterday they were moving north to south.
