Our heavy thunderstorms have now spread down into South Central and South Alabama from the Montgomery area southwestward to near Camden and then on into Southwest sections of the state.

A large area of moderate rain was behind the main line and moving east northeast. It covers parts of Sumter… Greene… southern Tuscaloosa, Bibb, Perry, Chilton and Talladega Counties.

Some fairly heavy rain along I-59 in the Vance area.

This activity is moving east northeast. It will affect mainly areas along I-459 in southern Jefferson County.

We will take all the rain we can get, especially in lighter, long duration sessions. Now over 5.50 inches at rain at the Birmingham Airport for the month, erasing our rainfall deficit and turning it into more than a four and one half inch surplus.

Probably not much more rain at the airport this afternoon, but we could see more heavy rain tomorrow ahead of a fairly impressive cold front for July.
