The National Weather Service has issued a Significant Weather Alert for Perry, Hale, Greene, Bibb, Pickens and Tuscaloosa Counties until 6:15.

Another Significant Weather Alert affects Pike, Bullock and Montgomery Counties until 6:00 p.m.

In West Alabama, the Alert included Aliceville, Brent and Northport, among others.

A line of thunderstorms was along a line from 5 miles east of Aliceville to 16 miles south of Brent moving NE at 15. This is short of a Severe Thunderstorm Warning, but it does include the possibility of gusty winds of 35 to 45 mph and frequent cloud-to-ground lightning.

Besides that cluster of strong storms in West Alabama, showers and thunderstorms were numerous over the southern counties, especially in Mobile and Baldwin Counties. To our west, other storms were moving east and NE from Mississippi, Arkansas and Louisiana.
