Here is how it looks across Alabama early on this Tuesday afternoon.
Just before 1 o’clock, the strongest thunderstorms in the state were over the south. In fact, a curved line of thunderstorms extended all the way from Washington County in SW Alabama east and NE across Monroe and Butler Counties to near Montgomery and then into East Alabama. These storms are dumping heavy rain and plenty of lightning. The Storm Prediction Center is considering a Severe Thunderstorm Watch because of those storms and possibly also for part of Georgia.
There are also some strong storms over NE Alabama over the east part of Madison County, Marshall, Jackson and DeKalb.
Areas within a 50-mile radius of Birmingham now getting a break from significant storms. There are some more strong thunderstorms over North-Central Mississippi, where a Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect.
The NWS in Birmingham has issued a Significant Weather Alert for Chambers and Randolph Counties in East Alabama until 1:30.
The EMA office in Morgan County (extreme North Alabama) reported thunderstorm wind damage at 11:05 a.m. with tree and roof damage in the Trinity Community.
