Main line of showers and thunderstorms now well south of Birmingham. In fact, the line extended from Camden and Hayneville to just south of Montgomery to the Lafayette-Opelika-Auburn area in East Alabama.
Everything moving eastward but the line itself still trying ever-so-slowly to push southward.
Heavy rain in much of that line. Over in East Alabama, extensive moderate to heavy rain over almost all of Chambers, Lee and Macon County.
North of the line, some scattered individual showers over Shelby and Talladega County and around Eutaw and Livingston in West Alabama.
There is some uncertainty about the chances of significant redevelopment over North Alabama today especially to the number of storms. We will play it by ear because there will be some. The NWS/Storm Prediction Center does not have Alabama under a slight risk today like yesterday. This does not mean that we could not have a few.
A couple of 24 hour rain amounts:
2.90 Northport on Frank Larry Road (thanks to Dennis Goodman)
1.13 Anniston Airport
2.85 Alexander City
1.52 Cotrtondale
2.50 Clanton Skycam
0.30 Scrougeout (Vic Bell reports only 0.38 in 16 days)
We will have a much longer list later this morning. Our “official” RO (Rain Officer) Michelle will help assemble a list
