Widely spaced showers were developing over extreme North Alabama this evening, mainly near the Tennessee Valley.

However, as we look off to the west, we see numerous showers and thunderstorms across Misssissippi, North Louisiana and part of Arkansas. All of those are spreading toward the NE and some of those showers were increasing along the Alabama/Mississippi border. There has been a considerable increase in lightning activity across Central Mississippi. It was pouring rain in those areas also.

As the night goes on, showers will be increasing, especially across North and Central Alabama, with some locally heavy rain.

A good chance of showers and thunderstorms Thursday also with some locally heavy rain amounts, especially for North and Central Alabama.

So far, we have seeen no severe thunderstorm warnings in the storms to our west. Would not be surprised at all to see some flash flood warnings, however.

The NWS in Jackson estimated that 3 to 5 inches of rain fell in West/Central Mississippi along the I-20 corridor earlier today.
