Strong storms continue over East Alabama this afternoon. They extend from northern Blount and Marshall Counties across Etowah and DeKalb, just entering Cherokee, back into St. Clair, Talladega, and northeastern St. Clair Counties.
Storms are approaching the Talladega Superspeedway where the race is being delayed slightly but should be fine.
Just to the west, a strong storm is over extreme northeastern Walker County northeast of Sumiton.

A shortwave trough continues to move through Alabama today, so showers and a few thunderstorms are possible statewide. Upper-level ridging returns tomorrow and Tuesday, and rain chances dwindle before another storm system moves through Wednesday, bringing more rain and thunderstorms to Alabama. As we head into the latter half of the week and into the weekend, conditions will dry. Continue reading
