And a good early Sunday morning to you on this second day of August, 2009.
A slowly organizaing band of showers continues across Northwest Alabama this morning from northern Lamar through Marion, southeastern Franklin, and Winston Counties, then on into the Tennessee Valley.
Ahead of the main line, moderate showers were over eastern Fayette and southwestern Walker Counties.
Additional showers were over Jackson, DeKalb and Cherokee Counties in Northeast Alabama.
No lightning still with any of this activity. It is developing in response to a southward sinking cool front that will move into North Alabama later today. Showers and storms will be a good bet ahead of the boundary.
There is lots of lightning over South Alabama in association with a big complex of storms over Conecuh, Butler, Escambia and Covington Counties.
The new week will trend to drier and hotter by Monday as surface high pressure starts to build into the area.
