Powerful storms over the Missouri Bootheel and Northeast Arkansas tonight have been causing lots of problems. These storms extend southeastward in an arc down through the Jackson TN area then into southern Tennessee about 50 miles northwest of the Florence, AL area.

The good news is that the eastward extension is not as strong as the western sections, where several severe thunderstorm warnings are in effect.

More good news…the overall intensity trend is weakening slowly…but these storms could bring a lot of lightning, heavy rain and gusty winds to Northwest Alabama later tonight.

Further east, weakening showers were over northern Marshall, Jackson and DeKalb counties.
