The radar is active early today as fairly numerous showers are forming over the southwestern quarter of the state…from Pickens, through Greene, Marengo, Wilcox, Monroe and Conecuh Counties and points southwest.

The showers are the product of an upper level disturbance that is passing to our southwest around the big heat ridge over the Southeast.

Showers will be most numerous to the south and west today…but scattered showers and storms will be expected across the rest of Central Alabama with the heating of the afternoon.

Forecast is on track. Showers and thunderstorms will be more plentiful than usual this week as a deep moist flow continues and combines with an unusual upper trough that tries to come our way by Tuesday. Much of Central Alabama will see 1 to 1.5 inches of rain over the next five days.
