Scattered thunderstorms were developing across Alabama this afternoon, mainly over the central part of the state from about Talladega County all the way down to Monroe County. The heaviest showers were just NW of Montgomery over to near Prattville and also a lone heavy shower over Monroe County.
Over North Alabama, a moderate to heavy shower along with lightning was along the Walker/Winston County line. Those were moving toward the ESE and will give places like Arley, Smith Lake, Sipsey and other areas north of Jasper some decent downpours.
There were scattered lighter showers over East/Central Alabama. Everything was moving toward the ESE.
It is an uncomfortable afternoon across the state with the mean old heat index 100 or higher in several areas.
