There is a long train of thunderstorms still in progress at 7:30 tonight all the way from SW Shelby County eastward near the Jefferson/Shelby County line and into St. Clair County. Some of the heavier storms and most intense lightning extend all the way across St. Clair County from Leeds to Odenville and to beyond Ashville and moving toward Gadsden. It is also pouring with lots of lightning over SW Shelby County along and west of I-65.

* 1.10 inches of rain reported in Inverness.

* Michael Mills, the 33/40 Skywatcher for Alabaster, reports 1.11 inches of rain and still raining heavily.

* We have a report of 1.34 inches in Meadowbrook and very heavy rain in Helena.

* From Odenville, pouring rain reported with lots of lightning.

* A Significant Weather Alert continued for Bibb and Shelby Counties until 8:00 p.m. and the NWS continues a Flash Flood Warning for Central Shelby County until 9:00 p.m.

The heaviest of this rain is a bit east of the downtown Birmingham area and much of Jefferson County. These storms are overloaded with lightning. Severe lightning even in NE Trussville.

Within the last 5 minutes, the intensity of the storms (the rain part) seems to have weakened just a bit in St. Clair County.
