They continue to develop this afternoon. At around 1:45, almost all of them were over the north third of the state. Just a small percentage of the countryside getting rain. A strong storm has developed over the Carbon Hill area in Walker County. This one may produce wind gusts of 45 mph and a lot of lightning. The storm is moving very little, almost stationary. Carbon Hill is over extreme NW Walker County.

A few of the other stronger storms were located:

* Along the Blount/St. Clair County line
* Several moderate to strong storms in DeKalb County
* Over West Marshall County

The movement is generally northward, but ever so slowly.

Other scattered storms were developing to the south over parts of Shelby County.

These storms this afternoon will be the pulse type, which means they form quickly, but flame out fairly soon and weaken, only for other storms to form nearby. It is almost like a cat chasing a mouse to try to keep up with them.
